CHEW FAQ
Choosing the Right Chew for Your Dog
✔️ Mini & Puppies (12 lbs and under): Choose small-sized chews or small bacon strips with exposed marrow. Always supervise closely to ensure safe chewing.
✔️ Small Dogs (under 20 lbs): Opt for smaller whole chews or bacon strips for easier chewing. Split chews are perfect for light to moderate chewers.
✔️ Medium Dogs (20–50 lbs): Whole chews or medium pancakes provide a balance of durability and accessibility, giving your dog a satisfying chew without being too tough.
✔️ Large Dogs (50–80 lbs): Choose larger whole tines, pancake or base chews, which are more durable and long-lasting. Split chews can work well for non-aggressive chewers.
✔️ Extra-Large Dogs (80+ lbs): Thick, whole chews are best for powerful chewers. These provide maximum durability for strong jaws.
Safe Chewing Practices
✅ Supervise Chewing: Always keep an eye on your dog while they chew to prevent choking or accidental swallowing of small pieces. Gum bleeding may occur (similar to when you floss your teeth) this is a natural process and is removing tarter and plaque. Limit chewing if excessive bleeding is noticed.
✅ Watch for Signs of Wear: If the chew becomes too small (small enough to be a choking hazard) or develops sharp edges, replace it immediately.
✅ Hydrate: Chewing can make dogs thirsty – make sure they have access to fresh water.
How Long Do Chews Last?
🦌 Chews are incredibly durable and can last anywhere from a few weeks to several months depending on your dog’s chewing style.
👉 Aggressive chewers may wear down a chew more quickly, while lighter chewers might enjoy the same chew for months.
🚨 If the chew becomes splintered or sharp, it’s time to toss it out.
